Activities

There are several different types of activities in which the Club participants have the opportunity to get involved.  The types and frequency of activities are subject to change from time to time depending upon a number of factors such as student interest, schedule logistics, and available funding.  If you have an idea or suggestion for a Club activity, please contact the Club Sponsors.  The following are examples of recent activities of the Hollywood Club:

  • Movie and Theater Outings:  6 to 10 group outings to new movie releases each year, including outings to a professional stage productions such as at Broadway Palm West or ASU Gammage, and outings to stage productions in which Club participants are involved (e.g., school and community theater), with after-parties for fellowship and to talk about the show with friends.

  • "Reel to Real":  4 to 6 DVD showings of previously released movies each year, including both modern and classic films. These showings often include behind-the-scenes footage and other information about the movie that is of interest.  This is where we'll also take time learning how to review films and to unpackage the messages that filmmakers include in their films.

  • “Roaring Lambs”: periodic meetings designed to help you integrate your Christian beliefs with real life, including how to identify your strengths and talents and use them to make a difference in the world, college and career info, Hollywood ministry spotlights, Christian celebrity spotlights, guest speakers, prayer for Hollywood, prayer for the students and their families, college/career spotlights, club member spotlights and recognitions, videos, games, and plenty of food, fun, and fellowship.

  • Other Major Events:  annual Christmas party (December) and annual Academy Awards banquet (February/March) for Club participants and special invited guests.

  • Mission Trips to Hollywood and/or Hollywood Weekend Tours:  not regularly scheduled – based on demand and availability, and may include activities such as attending performances at the Actors Co-op or Pantages Theatre; visiting the Walk of Fame, Hollywood & Highland, and other famous sites in and around Hollywood; participating in a studio prayer walk; attending the annual National Media Prayer Breakfast; and meeting and praying with Christian entertainment industry professionals.
